Hiking & mountain climbing

Whether a leisurely hike through alpine pastures or a challenging mountain climb - the Tuxertal with its numerous paths and trails is considered a first-class hiking destination. There are around 350 km to explore here through thick forests, past green meadows and crystal-clear mountain lakes, and along rugged cliffs up to the summit. You can start your hikes or mountain tours right at the hotel or take one of the hiking buses to your destination. At the reception desk, we will be happy to give you advice for your next tour.

Aim high

Take advantage of the Eggalmbahnen lifts and Finkenberger Almbahnen lifts, which are in operation in summer, to reach higher hiking areas. Only 8 km from Hotel Kirchlerhof, the Hintertux Glacier lift will take you up to a fascinating glacier world at an elevation of 3,250 m. From July to September, you can go on exploratory tours with experienced glacier guides from the Tuxertal ski school. A fascinating cave system with glistening ice crystals will delight visitors of all ages. It's not without reason that the Hintertux Glacier is a popular excursion destination for families.

Zillertal Nature Park

The nature park extends from an elevation of 1,000 m up to 3,500 m in the Central Alps. Altitude, exposure, geological conditions, and evolutionary history are decisive for the different habitats as well as plant and animal species. A considerable part of the Zillertal Nature Park is still covered by glaciers. Along with natural factors, people have also strongly shaped today's image of the natural and cultural landscape. Man's way of life and agriculture can be seen in the landscape and contribute to the charm of this diverse, romantic mountain landscape.

You can actively explore the nature park with hiking, mountain climbing, or mountain biking. On guided tours, you will learn everything worth knowing about the Zillertal Nature Park. You can choose between full-day or half-day tours with various highlights. As a highlight for the little ones, llama treks are offered. Let yourself be enchanted by the glistening world of minerals, by adventurous stories from the time of poachers and smugglers, or by the special atmosphere of a torch-lit hike. Visit the information center in the mountaineering village of Ginzling or visit the current nature park exhibit!
